oh relax you are taking this too seriously
you are but another victim in this information war, nothing more. Oh isn’t it annoying when ppl who know nothing about politics in general and Chinese politics in particular start blogging… Do u even know
anything about China or u just keep repeating everything u hear on cnn, no seriously man, what is your problem.
What do I know about China? Other than the fact that it’s a totalitarian regime with total disregard for individual freedom?
Personally, I wish the protesters would stop looking at only the Tibet issue (that wasn’t the most free of societies either) and look at the bigger picture.
There are lots of human rights abuses that occur in China. This was noted by most olympic committee members who voted to give them the olympics – but it was felt it might bring them “out from the cold” so to speak.
rrright… so you don’t have a degree in Chinese language and political science. Thaught so… Well, guess what, I do. And the thing is (i will explain because you don’t seem too bright at this), the reason why HR violation in PRC are an international issue but HR violation in, say, India?, the Phillipines?, DRK? etc. are not is… oh well, wasting my time here.
You go and do your thing, protesting against something you don’t even know. But, while you’re at it, add a couple of other countries to your anti HR violation poster, since China is not the only country in the world with a skeleton in the closet. Why not sweep your own back yard first before pointing at your neighbour’s?
What I’m triying to say in this annoying and disrespectful manner of mine is that the world is not always black and white you know. And the things you know: a) are not nescessarily true; b) are brought to your attention on purpose. I guess being a puppet is a nice and relieving feeling – why bother and think for yourself?
And just a disclamer – you are not my #1 enemy or something:) I am being agressive towards your opinion, not towards you as a person.
“so you don’t have a degree in Chinese language and political science.”
LOL… I should have picked you as one of those. They’ve done a good number on you – maybe you’ll be de-programmed one day, but I doubt it.
Not everything is black and white, to be sure… but the existence of twilight does not diminish the contrast between night and day. China has been going through huge economic changes, and with hope, this will improve the lives of it’s people – but they got a long long long ways to go.
Lots of other countries have problems (I even said in my post that Tibet isn’t this free utopia that many protesters seem to imagine) – but China is significantly worse than a lot of them (and given their size, effects a whole lot more people) – and what’s worse is they export their oppression to other countries (even propping up the Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe).
Well, I migrated to Australia from China 10 years ago. But I am with Fleeced here.
“the reason why HR violation in PRC are an international issue but HR violation in, say, India?, the Phillipines?, DRK? etc. are not”
I believe the reason here is that China is much a bigger threat to the rest of the world than others. And trust me, the west media only reported the tip of the iceburg on this. I can tell you much more horrific HR violations in China the west media has not reported.
Your logic that because the west media does not report on HR violation in other countries, they should not report China either is absurd..
I agree with Whatever, people should not judge countries actions or society base on rumors or whatever media spreads, because there may be some information that the media may leave out and may not tell the people in other countries.
We don’t judge countries actions based on rumours… we judge their actions on – well, their actions. Yes, there’s a difference between media editorialising and media reporting – but ignoring all reports as mere opinion is absurd.
I must say, I find it rather frightening that there are so many apologists for the Chinese government.
